Let us introduce ourselves. We are a bunch of Florida Fanatics who have enjoyed holidaying in the sunshine state for about 20 years now. One thing that we have noticed in that time, and particularly in the last 2 or 3 years, is that there is a staggering amount of ticket options available and purchasing them is a bewildering business!
Should you buy now or when you get there?
In the old days, we used to just get our tickets at the gate, but now there are lots of good reasons to buy in the UK before you travel, not least to save some of your hard-earned cash!
But the dollar is now 2 to 1 against the pound. Surely we will get a better deal out there?
Don't be so sure about that. Remember that UK companies have an advantage by buying lots of dollars at an even more preferential rate, and they will also be making bulk orders at discounted prices. It's also worth noting that if you pay on a credit card, you will only get the exchange rate that your credit card company sets (which sometimes isn't so great), plus, you must add on 7% sales tax. If that doesn't convince you, remember that some tickets such as the Disney 14 day ultimate pass are exclusive to the UK market, and if you are planning to swim with Dolphins at Discovery Cove, then you need to book early to avoid disappointment. Finally, one major benefit of getting your tickets early is that you can spread the cost, rather than have to fork out one big lump sum when you get there. Most companies offer a deposit scheme.
