How To Get There

Ticket Man

Orlando is such a busy destination so there are non-stop daily flights available from all the major airlines.

Thisistravel.co.uk suggest British Airways (tel: 0845 7733377; www.ba.com), Virgin Atlantic (tel: 01293 747 747; www.virgin-atlantic.com and Continental Airlines (tel: 0800 776 464; www.continental.com) as well as many others.

Flying from London to Orlando takes up to 9 hours. The Rough Guide to Florida explains more about the location of the airport and how to get between them and the city. The region's primary airport, Orlando International, is nine miles south of downtown Orlando. Shuttle buses will carry you from the airport to any hotel or motel in the Orlando area if you are not hiring a car.

Great deals can also be found on charter flights, particularly in the busy school holidays and many tour operators offer good packages often on a fly-drive basis. This is extremely useful if not staying in or near the Disney resort. of course Disney and Universal Orlando offer their own packages, including flights, and accommodation. (Thisistravel.co.uk)

Helpful hint from the Rough Guide is to consider that many airlines and discount travel websites offer you the opportunity to book your tickets online, cutting the costs of the agent or middle man. Some online booking agents include-

www.expedia.co.uk
www.cheaptickets.co.uk
www.cheapflights.co.uk

Our advice: Shop around, there are loads of different ways to book your Orlando holiday so research all the options for the price and itinerary that suits you best. Be careful though of paying over the odds for your attraction tickets as you will get offered these as part of your flights. in this instance, operators often claw back the savings you make on your flights by persuading you to buy over-priced attraction tickets.
