Universal Studios is part of Universal Resort Orlando, (not to be confused with Disney Hollywood Studios).
This is the original Universal park where the theme, as you would imagine, is a huge movie Studio where various films are being shot, although, the films are of course actually rides. There are six themed areas - Hollywood, Production Central, New York, San Francisco / Amity, World Expo and KidZone, although they all seamlessly blend into one which is no bad thing though as the design of the park is absolutely first-class. Universal Studios is aimed at a slightly older age group than most of the Disney Parks (Hollywood Studios being the exception), and each October it is host to Halloween Horror Nights.
Our favourite attractions: The Mummy, Men in Black, Jaws and Shrek 4-D + New in 2008, watch out for The Simpsons!
Halloween Horror nights is a gruesome evening of chills and thrills where you can enjoy the rides in the dark and visit a number of scare zones or haunted houses if you are brave enough! We highly recommend a visit to this, but one word of advice – Universal really go to town with it, so it's not suitable for young kids. In the UK, you can purchase the Frequent Fear Pass which is valid for multiple visits and usually retails around the £40-£45 mark. Check out our list of top suppliers to see if they stock it.
Universal Resort Orlando also includes sister theme park, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Citywalk, an entertainment district featuring shows (including the excellent Blue Man Group), bars, restaurants, shops and a cinema, plus 3 hotels all located a short walk or boat ride away.
